- LINOCONV.EXE is a utility to convert PC PageMaker PostScript output files
- to a form acceptable by a Linotronic or other imagesetter driven by a Mac.
-
- These files, as created by PageMaker, contain a Control-D character as the
- first and last byte in the file. These Control-D's choke a Mac, and must
- be removed prior to outputting these files through a Mac to a Lino.
-
- To use the program from any subdirectory, copy the LINOCONV.EXE file to
- a directory that is a part of your PATH statement.
-
- Typing LINOCONV at a DOS prompt will display the instructions for using
- the utility.
-
- USAGE: LINOCONV [drive] [pathname] filename.ext
-
- Wildcards (*, ?) are allowed in filename.ext.
-
- EXAMPLES:
- To convert the file OUTPUT.PRN in the current directory,
- type LINOCONV OUTPUT.PRN
-
- To convert all files with an extension of .PRN in the current
- directory, type LINOCONV *.PRN
-
- To convert all files on drive C in the subdirectory PM4 with an
- extension .PRN, type LINOCONV C:\PM4\*.PRN
-
- If the program is successful in removing the Control-D characters, it
- will report this fact to you for each file it converts. If the file
- is not a PostScript file, or has already been converted and does not
- contain Control-D characters, the program will bypass the file and
- report this to you on the screen.
-
- LINOCONV.EXE will run as a DOS application under Windows 3.x.
- LINOCONV.ICO (an icon file) is included, along with a LINOCONV.PIF file
- which will prompt you for the drive/pathname/filename.ext parameters
- needed. Please follow the Windows instructions for installing this
- program as a DOS application.
-
- LINOCONV.EXE has been thoroughly tested by me, as I do DTP for a living
- and create PostScript files for Lino output on a regular basis. However,
- if you have any problems, please report them to me via CIS Email at
- 75160,2530, or by mail at 5000 Valley Stream Road, Charlotte, NC 28209.
